Good to know

Silos have fed people for years. Now they house them, too! First we bought a caboose off FB marketplace and created James Station (see our other listing!). And now we're those crazy people who want you to "Stay Different" in a silo house. Silo on the James is part of the Stay Different collection by All Belong Co. This can be a romantic getaway for couples, a fun friends meet up, or a family-friendly adventure with kids. It’s sure to be a unique experience you won't forget. ✨ Here's what you can expect at Silo on the James: **MAIN FLOOR** 🛋️ LIVING AREA ✓ Smart TV w/ streaming apps + Sonos sound bar ✓ Electric fireplace w/ color-changing options + crackling sound ✓ Pull-down queen-size Murphy bed ✓ 8 huge windows to take in the incredible views (with the click of a button, blackout shades will lower) ✓ Swivel chairs to take in the views ✓ Bluetooth speaker, games, books ☕ KITCHEN ✓ Full-size fridge, oven/stove, dishwasher, microwave ✓ Keurig Duo, French press + coffee ✓ Pots/pans, dishes, & everything needed to cook meals ✓ Quartz countertops w/ island for dining 🚽 HALF BATHROOM **UPSTAIRS** 🛏️ BEDROOM LOFT ✓ King bed ✓ Rollaway smart TV ✓ Views of the river from bed 🛁 FULL BATHROOM ✓ Tile shower w/ faucet + hand-held attachment ✓ Built-in bluetooth speaker w/ lighting options ✓ Towels + hairdryer 🫧 LAUNDRY ROOM ✓ Full size washer and dryer ✓ Iron + ironing board 🌳 EXTERIOR ✓ Gas grill ✓ Back deck w/ dining table & lounging sectional ✓ Solo stove fire pit + Adirondack chairs ✓ Pollinator flower bed 🌡️ CLIMATE CONTROL: Yes, the silo is insulated! A remote controlled heating and air unit + a huge, 8-ft fan does the trick to control the temperature. For extra coziness, you can turn on the fireplace with or without heat. 🚗 PARKING: Up to 3 cars may park at the Silo (gravel driveway parking) 📺 TV Services: Smart TV (guests use personal login credentials) *All towels & linens are provided for your stay. 📢 POTENTIAL FOR NOISE: You will hear the occasional sounds of trains going by, distant construction forklifts beeping, etc. The factory works through the night. Some nights can be noisier than others, and unfortunately this is out of our control. (Sunday nights and holidays tend to be the quietest as often the factory is off work!) Our family lives nearby and is not usually bothered by it, but we realize it could be an issue, particularly if you're a light sleeper. The silo has sound-proofing insulation, and we provide a white noise machine and portable fan for your added comfort. *You must be 25 years or older to reserve Silo on the James by Stay Different. 🚂 ANOTHER UNIQUE STAY STEPS AWAY!: We also offer a train caboose, a 1 bedroom apartment AND a separate 5 bedroom home steps from the silo that you may rent in coordination with your stay. Look up our listings (under Amy's profile), "James Station by Stay Different," "River View Downtown Historic Apartment," or "Lighthearted Family Friendly Home near Downtown LYH". Accessibility and Availability

Neighborhood

Silo on the James sits atop Daniel's Hill: a beautiful, historic neighborhood within walking distance of downtown Lynchburg's shops, restaurants, and events. At the end of the street is an entrance to the Blackwater Creek Trail system, which provides guests miles of paved (and unpaved) walking, hiking, & bike trails. In our neighborhood, you'll find some brick-paved roads flanked with historic lamp posts, a bustling community center with a fenced-in park and playground, sidewalks in both directions, and architecturally impressive homes built from the 1820's to the early 1900's. The people in our neighborhood are just as beautiful and diverse as the houses themselves, ranging from residents who have lived in the neighborhood for 50+ years and others who are new to Lynchburg. On a nearby block alone, there are families with young children, single professionals, and elderly folks. It is a "front porch" neighborhood where everyone knows everyone and they watch out for one another. We love this neighborhood and are proud to call it our family's home. Getting Around: Downtown Lynchburg & all it offers (great dining, local shopping, children's museum, concerts, events, etc.) is only a 10 minute walk from the home. Uber & Lyft are available.

Great spot. Different for sure. Something we have never done. Such a cool experience. Highly recommend staying there. The giant fan was clutch at night for a great sleep, and the blackout curtains. Bacon St Bagels is walk-able from the spot. Highly recommend. We went 3 times in 4 days for breakfast and coffee. Definitely go!

What a great place- beautiful views, private and peaceful, lots of room. First, love the uniqueness of the place-all the windows on the back and up the stairs, the stairs were unique themselves, all the nice finishes and good amount of seating, the comfy bed, 2 bathrooms a plus. We would love to stay again-it's on our favs list. We did hear the factory forklifts and trains going by on occasion, but really it just added to the fun location-it wasn't bothersome.

My husband and I took a couple days just for the two of us. We loved the silo! The back deck overlooking the river is amazing in the evening. We enjoyed burgers and boozy milkshakes at Bootleggers. We enjoyed walking along the trails. The bagels at Bacon Street Bagels were great! I would suggest walking to it, parking is very limited. We would definitely come back to the silo and would recommend it to anyone!

We had an incredible stay and would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for something unique. The host was genuinely kind and made us feel right at home from the start. Check-in and check-out were smooth and straightforward, which made the whole experience stress-free. The Silo home itself is truly one-of-a-kind. It’s thoughtfully designed and offers a really cool experience you don’t get with a typical stay. Everything inside was spotless, well-maintained, and equipped with high-end finishes and furnishings that made it feel both comfortable and elevated. One of the highlights was definitely the view—being able to look out over the river and surrounding area gave the place a distinctive and memorable vibe. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely stay here again in the future.

Most stunning stay in Lynchburg & one of the coolest we’ve been in!Even better in person. Fully stocked, thoughtful amenities & attention to details. Private with easy 10min walk to town. Great recommendations on food & fun. Deer came right up to Silo at night. Amy is the most responsive host we’ve ever had. She truly takes pride in her property & it more than shows. Looking forward to staying here again & trying the “Caboose” stay next door.
