Accessibility and Availability

Neighborhood

Silo on the James sits atop Daniel's Hill: a beautiful, historic neighborhood within walking distance of downtown Lynchburg's shops, restaurants, and events. At the end of the street is an entrance to the Blackwater Creek Trail system, which provides guests miles of paved (and unpaved) walking, hiking, & bike trails. In our neighborhood, you'll find some brick-paved roads flanked with historic lamp posts, a bustling community center with a fenced-in park and playground, sidewalks in both directions, and architecturally impressive homes built from the 1820's to the early 1900's. The people in our neighborhood are just as beautiful and diverse as the houses themselves, ranging from residents who have lived in the neighborhood for 50+ years and others who are new to Lynchburg. On a nearby block alone, there are families with young children, single professionals, and elderly folks. It is a "front porch" neighborhood where everyone knows everyone and they watch out for one another. We love this neighborhood and are proud to call it our family's home. Getting Around: Downtown Lynchburg & all it offers (great dining, local shopping, children's museum, concerts, events, etc.) is only a 10 minute walk from the home. Uber & Lyft are available.

Our time at the Silo was absolutely wonderful! It’s just beautiful, cozy, clean, and so inviting. The view of the James River is stunning. We were so excited to see nine deer on the back porch. We really enjoyed just relaxing by the fireplace (which was the most unique-looking and sounding electric fireplace we’ve ever seen—we’re dreaming of having one of our own!). The only thing we wish we had done was book for a longer stay. Thank you for hosting us. We’ll definitely be back!

What a special place to stay on the River! My daughter and I were in town visiting Liberty University and the Silo was very convenient to the school. I wanted to stay somewhere other than a hotel during our visit and wow, this place did not disappoint. We visited the local market on Saturday morning and loved all of the local treasures. There were lots of “extras” at the Silo that other places do not provide. The kitchen was very well stocked and the treats upon arrival were a plus! This will be my go to place to stay when my daughter starts her freshman year at Liberty. Thank you for making our girl weekend special and inviting!

I felt like my partner and I created our own buffer zone of tranquility by staying at the Silo. Well designed, perfectly outfitted with all things necessary for a stay. The acoustics for playing music in the Silo reminded me of my time as a radio broadcaster, in that, listening to music had a perfect balance to it. Go there, but don't watch TV, play music and soak in the tranquility.Sure the iron factory below is busy, but you can ignore it to a point and with the inside of the Silo being pretty sound proof, thats crucial. Looking forward to stayin at the Silo again in the future🎤🎧✌️

We loved our stay at the Silo! It's just stunning on the inside and so well appointed. You can tell a tremendous amount of time was put into every detail. We loved the massive amount of windows and the view of the river and wooded hills beyond was so peaceful. Everything was very comfortable including the sofa, sitting chairs and the bed and the bed linens felt softer than silk. The Silo is in a great location. We knew nothing about Lynchburg prior to our visit and only chose this because the home was so unique. The host left a very detailed notebook about the place and the area and every suggestion we followed was a 10/10. The nearby restaurants were fantastic and inviting and the Super Rad Arcade is a must! The area looks super walkable and we hope to visit again when it's not arctic and we can enjoy the outdoors more. Luckily the Silo was the perfect spot to relax and just be cozied up inside.

I’d like to express my esteem satisfaction in staying at The Silo! Booking was a smooth process with the thorough assistance from Amy. Upon arrival, the residence was spotless and there was a portfolio listing off the local attractions along with instructions for the home. After staying, the only regret is not extending the reservation for more days! Thank you again for creating such an amazing experience, we will be booking again!

Silo on the James was a cozy home away from home! The check-in and check out process were both super easy and clear which we appreciated. The place was beautifully decorated from the basic necessities down to the decor, our host provided everything you could need for our stay! The river was nice and relaxing to see right outside our windows. The place was spotless when we arrived and the guestbook provided for us was a great thing to have access to. The bed was nice and cozy and the pull out tv was an amazing thing to have in the upstairs section of the silo. Amy was super responsive with any concern we had both before and during our stay. Her responses were swift and helpful. The only issue I could think of would be the shower heating up a bit more at times but it was doable. I would love to come back and stay at the Silo, it was honestly a great experience!
